Libertarian Petition Drive
Dear Friend of Liberty,
If you know me at all, then by now you know that I'm a fighter, and standing up when the odds are overwhelmingly against me is not something I'm afraid of. You also know that I am a hard worker, with a sense of duty to the cause of Liberty. But the truth of the matter is, without your help, I might as well quit politics and concentrate on my current profession in Information Technology.
The time has come for the Independent Petitioning Period, and since the Libertarian Party is still not recognized by New York State, this is the time we must gather 3500 signatures to get me on the ballot for that line. As you may already be aware, we were not able to get the number of signatures required to get into the Republican Primary, so this is pretty much it for the cause of Liberty in this particular race. If I do not make it onto the ballot, you will likely have a choice of Democrat Incumbent Tim Bishop, who voted for Obamacare and Cap & Trade, or Republican carpetbagger Randy Altschuler, who has bribed his way to the Conservative Party endorsement, and bought this election peice by peice. That will be a very sad state of affairs, my dear friend of Liberty, and that is one of the main reasons the Libertarian Party exists, to give you a REAL CHOICE, when the two party system fails you as it so often does.
I'm working very hard at this personally, I was at the Great South Bay Music Festival most of the weekend petitioning not only for myself, but for the statewide Libertarian Candidates as well. You might just see me in front of your supermarket one of these evenings or weekends, and I'll be seeking out street fairs and other events for us to visit together.
But the most important thing you can do right now for the cause of Liberty is print out these two petitions Chris Cantwell for US House 1st District and Greg Fischer for NYS Senate 1st District and Statewide Libertarian Candidates. Carry these petitions with you everywhere you go, and get your friends and family and coworkers to sign them. Better yet, take some time and stand outside a busy place with these petitions and ask people to sign them. Doing this is not only a great way to help the campaign, but a great way to educate people about Liberty. People will ask you questions about your petition, and they will listen when you answer, perhaps you can recruit some fresh activists in the process. Whenever you have more than 2 or 3 sheets filled out, contact me through the website or through meetup or though facebook, and I'll have someone come pick up your petitions.
If you haven't already done so, please sign up for the meetup group, at http://www.meetup.com/VoteForCantwell and I will send out events invites and campaign updates to everyone who is signed up.
In Liberty,
Chris Cantwell
